International Harvester Company was an American manufacturer of agricultural machinery, construction equipment, vehicles, and commercial trucks. It was founded in 1902 and went through several changes before becoming Navistar International Corporation, a manufacturer of medium- and heavy-duty trucks, school buses, diesel engines, and military vehicles. International Harvester was a major player in the agricultural machinery market for much of the 20th century, producing equipment such as tractors, combines, balers, and plows. In the 1960s and 1970s, the company also expanded into the construction equipment market, producing loaders, bulldozers, and other heavy equipment. In the 1980s, International Harvester sold its agricultural and construction equipment businesses, and focused on its truck and engine businesses. Today, Navistar International continues to manufacture and sell trucks, buses, and diesel engines, and is a well-respected player in the commercial vehicle market.
