1963–1967 C2 Corvette VIN Decoder & Registry
C2 Corvette coverage now starts where the generation actually starts: 1963. PetrolJunky recognizes the 1963–1964 08-series layout and the 1965–1967 Chevrolet 194xx format, including coupe versus convertible body coding.

What this identifier can tell you
The C2 crosses two Chevrolet VIN layouts
1963 and 1964 Sting Rays use Chevrolet’s earlier year-plus-series format, with 08 identifying Corvette and 37 or 67 identifying coupe or convertible. Beginning in 1965, the VIN moves into the broader Chevrolet division format beginning with 1, with 94 as the Corvette series followed by body, year, plant and sequence.
Body style is directly useful on a Sting Ray
The 37 body code identifies the sport coupe while 67 identifies the convertible. That means PetrolJunky can distinguish the two major C2 body configurations from the chassis number rather than relying on a user-selected model.
Engine and option authenticity need separate evidence
The C2 VIN supports the Corvette chassis, body, model year and assembly sequence but does not encode every engine and option combination across the generation. Fuel injection, big-block specification, side pipes and other collector details should be documented from engine stamps, trim tags, factory records and physical evidence rather than inferred from the VIN.
