Classic Toyota identification often uses a frame code plus serial
Older and Japanese-market Toyota vehicles frequently appear as identifiers such as FJ40-371717, TA22-123456 or AE86-123456 rather than a US-standard 17-character VIN. The letters and digits before the serial are not decoration: they identify the frame/model family and often the engine or platform combination.

The universal input removes common punctuation, recognizes a reviewed Toyota frame code and stores the remaining chassis sequence as a separate decoded fact. This is particularly useful for imported cars that may not return meaningful results from a US VIN service.
