Toyota AE86 & AW11 MR2 Frame Decoder
Toyota explicitly identifies AE86 as the 1600 model code for the fifth-generation Corolla Levin/Sprinter Trueno sports models. The AW11 similarly identifies the first-generation MR2 family.

Toyota's historical archive explicitly identifies AE86 as the 1600 model code for the fifth-generation Corolla Levin/Sprinter Trueno sports models and notes that enthusiasts continued to call the car by that code after production ended. PetrolJunky accepts an AE86 frame number directly and preserves the serial as a separate registry fact.
AW11 receives the same frame-number treatment
The first-generation mid-engine MR2 is commonly identified by the AW11 frame family. For both cars, the code establishes the model/generation while the current decoder leaves exact-year dating conservative unless a serial boundary is available.
Classic and modern paths coexist
These collector frame decoders are meant for non-standard/JDM identifiers. A proper 17-character Toyota VIN still follows the NHTSA path, so adding AE86 and AW11 support does not weaken modern decoding.
