105 and 115 series type-code decoding

Classic Alfa Romeo VIN Decoder & Registry

Classic Alfa Romeo identification is strongest when the factory type code is available with the chassis serial. PetrolJunky recognizes the major 105 and 115 collector families without pretending that a bare AR serial always proves the model.

What this decoder page is designed to answer.

Classic Alfa Romeo decoding works best from the factory type

Alfa Romeo's 105 and 115 families use type numbers such as 105.02, 105.44, 105.24 and 115.02 to describe specific model and market families. PetrolJunky accepts the type together with the chassis serial, with or without an AR prefix and common punctuation, then connects the normalized identifier to the vehicle registry.

Why PetrolJunky does not guess from every bare AR serial

A historic Alfa serial by itself is not always enough to establish the exact model across decades of overlapping 105/115 production. Requiring the type where the serial is ambiguous prevents a Giulia, GTV or Spider from being confidently mislabeled just to produce a result.

Current collector coverage

The reviewed type database includes Bertone Sprint GT/GTA/GT Junior/GTV families, Duetto and later Spiders, Giulia/Berlina sedans and the Montreal. Standard 17-character Alfa VINs remain routed to the modern decoder.
