Dino 246 production is commonly divided into L, M and E series
PetrolJunky uses the factory 607 type suffix together with the chassis serial to recognize those production families: 607L for the early L-Series, 607M for the M-Series and 607E for the later E-Series. This is significantly safer than attempting to identify a Dino from a bare serial number alone.
E-Series GT and GTS require restraint
Dino 246 GT coupe and GTS targa production occupies overlapping E-Series serial space. As a result, 607E plus a serial can establish the Dino 246 E-Series family but cannot always prove the roof configuration. PetrolJunky reports GT/GTS family rather than inventing a body style.
Registry evidence can add the missing detail
